Dr Kate Shapland trained at the Royal Free Hospital in London, UK where she qualified with her MBBS in 1987.
She achieved her MRCGP in 1991 through Watford General Hospital and completed the Diploma of Community Child Health in 1993.
Kate was a partner in a practice on the outskirts of London for 10 years, where she was also the chair of a continuing education organisation for doctors and became a trainer for new GP’s.
Throughout this time she was interested in exploring complementary medical processes and had plans to develop a holistic practice in the UK.
In 1999 she spent a year working in Wellington, NZ and Brisbane.
Kate came to the Gold Coast in 2000, achieved her FRACGP, and has been here ever since.
Over the last 15 years she has become more interested and skilled in complimentary therapies, which she incorporates into her consultations.
In particular, she is a qualified EFT Practitioner and this technique uses “psychological acupressure” to release past emotions that may be hindering current physical and mental healing.
Kate has worked individually with clients and has had very empowering results leading group workshops.
Kate passionately believes in the body’s innate ability to heal itself given the right nutrients and tools.
Dr Kate completed her initial training course with the Australasian College of Nutritional and Environmental Medicine (ACNEM) 2010 and regularly attends lectures and tutorials in nutritional and environmental medicine, she has recently completed the Bio-Balance course.
Dr Kate is committed to following Holistic Medicine treatment wherever possible integrating nutrients, naturopathics and pharmaceuticals for the best outcome of the patient.
She is keen to educate and empower people to take control of their health and be as informed as possible.
